C. R. Shaw, manager, announced this week the temporary New Bern Disaster Field Office of the Small Business Administration would be officially closed after October 28. Mr. Shaw stated that as of this date, fifty-three (53) applications had been received from home owners and businesses in the fifteen (15) county area. To date, eighteen (18) business loans, totaling $112,375.00, and four loans to home owners, totaling $4,625.00, had been approved. Other applications received are being processed as rapidly as possible. It is urged that all persons interested in filing for loans because of losses from Hurricane Donna, do so before the official closing of the New Bern Office. However, disaster victims may file up to March 31, 1961, if they so desire. After the New Bern Office is closed, applications may be filed at either the Charlotte Branch Office of Small Business Administration located at 1116 Independence Building, Charlotte, North Carolina, or at the Small Business Administration Regional Office, 900 North Lombardy Street, Richmond, Virginia, whichever is most convenient.
