In the city of Pittsburgh and vicinity there are 51 Sunday schools, 513 teachers, and 3,721 scholars. One church has under its care twelve schools containing one thousand pupils. The whole population in which these schools are situated is about 23,000. A correspondent of the Christian Herald says,

In the foregoing enumeration there are six very interesting infant Sabbath day schools, viz. 4 in Pittsburgh, 1 well taught and very useful African school in Pittsburgh, and 1 in Alleghany town, and 2 in Hayti—There is one school principally consisting of adults, who attend very punctually and with great earnestness to learn the Bible.
