HOUSTON-(ANP)-A special "welcome home" reception was given for Dr. and Mrs. R. O'Hara Lanier on their return to the campus after a month's absence to attend the inauguration of President William V. S. Tubman and Vice President W. R. Tolbert in Monrovia, Liberia.

The president of Texas Southern university described the trip and recounted highlights of the inauguration ceremonies. Mrs. Lanier presented the women's view, and praised the government of Liberia for the painstaking plans surrounding the near two weeks program.

In praising President Tubman, Dr. Lanier said in part: "President Tubman is one of the great men of the age. He is a far seeing diplomat liked by natives, diplomats and nations."

American missionaries and the U. S. Point 4 program came in for comment. He said that both are doing a good job.

Dr. Lanier formerly was U. S. Minister to Liberia. When he left in 1948, he received the highest rank that a foreigner can receive in Africa-the Grand Commander Order of Star of Africa. Mrs. Lanier also received the same rank.
