Police Rounding Up Boys For Molesting Girl

Police Saturday were rounding up a gang of boys who Friday afternoon allegedly attempted to molest a girl student after school hours in the David T. Howard High School.

Officers W. W. Pope and W. H. Tripp reported that they answered a call to the school at 5:08 p. m. and were met by two teachers and a girl student.

The teachers, J. W. Dinkins and M. E. Perkins told the officers a gang of boys had invaded the building and forced the coed into a second floor boys rest room and attempted to molest her.

The girl said she knew two of the seven youths, and identified one as a student at the school and the other as a former student. She told police they were trying to pull her clothes off and she screamed. The two teachers heard her and ran to the scene; the youths fled.

The former student, who she said was the ring leader is 20 years old.

The officers approached the boy who is presently enrolled at the school and reported that enroute to the Juvenile Detention Home he gave them the names of the others. At least two of the others are 18 years old, he said.
