Under the heading of "U. P. Grows in Arizona", the recent issue of "Unipress" says:
"The Journal-Miner of Prescott Ariz., recently purchased by Arthur V. Doud, joined the United Press night leased wire system in July. Doud also owns the Verde Copper News, prosperous weekly at Jerome, Ariz.
"A. V. Napier, formerly with the Santa Ana (Cal.) Register, is editor of the Journal-Miner.
"Three years ago the United Press was fighting for its first toe-hold in Arizona, against a monopoly enjoyed by another agency.
With the addition of the Arizona Record of Globe, Morning Sun of Yuma and Journal-Miner of Prescott, all of which changed over to United Press, this service now is even-Steven with the erstwhile monopoly in Arizona in morning paper membership, and is "one up" on its opposition on Sunday morning.
"A night bureau is operated in Phoenix in connection with the Arizona Republican, the state's principal daily.
"Additional leased wire business is under contract in Arizona, and circuits are to be further extended in December."
