Otto Waddell of the Lake Co. Barracks of World War I Veterans and was in town yesterday. He told of the State convention held last week at Polson and said several new members were received into the organization.
He also reported that both the Lake County Democratic Central committee and The Republican committee have adopted the following resolution:
WHEREAS, we recognize the economic disability suffered by the Veterans of World War I under present economic conditions and,
WHEREAS, we recognize that these veterans are now the "forgotten men" of the United States, and
WHEREAS, this party has always maintained a policy of fair play and justice toward the veterans in all wars in which the U. S. has participated;
THEREFORE, BE it resolved:
The Lake County (Democratic or Republican) Central committee urges that passage of appropriate legislation by the congress of the U. S. for the establishment of a $100.00 monthly pension for each honorably discharged veteran of World War I; and
BE IT FURTHER resolved that our delegates to the next National Convention and to all intervening conventions or meeting of the party in Montana be instructed to present these sentiments to said meetings as evidence of our attitude toward the principle here in involved.
