Councilman J. P. McNeil was fined $30 in Judge Hinson Thomas' court yesterday afternoon, for carrying concealed weapons within the city limits.
McNeil plead guilty to the charge. He had little to say except to reiterate his statement of Wednesday that he thought he had a right to carry a revolver, owing to the fact that he was a member of the city council. As he had been informed by the city attorney that he had no such authority, he offered no defense.
He paid his fine.
McNeil seemed very much perturbed when asked by the Silver Belt as to whether or not he would resign from the city council and finally stammered out a reply to the effect that he had no statement to make.
