Full Text

Father Huntington's Innovation.

New York ministers seem inclined toward new methods. Rev. James O. S. Huntington, the head of the Brotherhood of the Holy Cross, arranged for a meeting a few nights ago in the house of a wealthy citizen of New York, where a score of working people, both men and women, gathered by appointment for an evening's talk, and for an interchange of experiences and conditions. Upon whom these people called remains a secret which Father Huntington refuses to reveal, but he said after the visit that the poor people would not exchange place with those of wealth, for they are far happier in their lowly homes. He believes that the more intelligent working classes can give many valuable points to those of higher social position, who though wealthy, lack the essentials of worldly experience and the unalloyed pleasure that would come from earning their bread by the sweat of their own brows.
