A violent Whirlwind indeed was felt the 1st ult. at Homer (N. Y.) if one might judge from the following evidence of its force:—

It took up a barn, 35 by 50 feet, and carried it 12 feet; carried up two men into the air several feet; conveyed a waggon over a fence six rods; scattered roofs of houses, furniture, bedding, trees, &c several miles; and one man says he found one end of his trunk four miles from the place he lost it, had not found the linen it contained, but supposes it has been whirled to the antipodes.
