Kentucky—A very warmly contested Election has just taken place in the State of Kentucky for Governor, State Legislature, and Representatives for Congress. The Election for Governor appears to have been the main object. In addition to the excitement among the attached friends and supporters of the respective Candidates, it would almost appear that every individual in the State had engaged in the contest. Addresses and counter-addresses, certificates and counter-certificates and affidavits, have flooded the columns of the Kentucky Journals these three months. The most violent opposition, as well as the most active support appear to have been made to Gen. Adair and Col. Butler. In some of the counties Gen Desha hardly received a vote: in others, the same thing occurred as to Gen. Adair and Col. Butler. Judge Logan did not receive, in any county, less than fifty votes. The last papers preceding the Election exhibited a singular aspect. Each party begged of the others to unite with it, to keep out some one of the other candidates; each equally positive that its candidate would "run the best." So far as we have seen the returns, the race has been pretty even. Who will come out first, we shall be able to say when the judges have decided. The returns received at this office exhibit the following result:
FOR GOVERNOR.
A plurality elects.
| William Logan, | 6225 |
| Joseph Desha, | 5220 |
| John Adair, | 4603 |
| Anthony Butler, | 2832 |
Congressional Election.—We have returns from two Districts only.
In the Fayette District, lately represented by Clay, Mr. Woodson is elected, by no very large majority, over Mr. Pope, the other candidate; Mr. T. T. Barr's friends having given him up, at the opening of the Election, from perceiving that, if they did not, Mr. Pope, to whom they were warmly opposed, would inevitably be elected.
In the District of Frankfort, John T. Johnson is elected, by a large majority, over Thomas J. Grimes, his opponent.
