CONGRESS MEETS
As this is written the first regular session of Congress under the Rooseveltian era is getting under way, and information from leading figures about the Capital is to the effect that it will be a short session, with revenue legislation taking the spotlight.
The President and party leaders have agreed to stand on the present recovery program with minor changes to meet new conditions, and to confine activities to a brief business meeting with an executive request for extension of such recovery agencies as may expire during the year. With no indications of a diminished Roosevelt popularity over the country, and with the preponderance of the Democratic majorities in the House and Senate, the administration will have scant cause to worry over any monkey wrenches being thrown into the machinery of the New Deal.
