In consequence of some difficulty arising between John Schonberger and Thomas E. Wesley over property administration, Schonberger procured a gun, pursued and fired at Wesley at about thirty yards distance while riding through Rocketts, causing immediate death. Schonberger had married Wesley's sister and was dissatisfied with Wesley's administration of the father's estate, having threatened his life previously.
