SEATTLE, Feb. 21.—Announcement has been received that Gov. Hartley has appointed John C. Denny, of Everett, former Superior Court Judge to be Director of the Department of Public Works, succeeding Walter B. Whitcomb, of Bellingham.
OLYMPIA, Feb. 21. — Walter B. Whitcomb, today said he refused to remain as Supervisor of Public Utilities under Denny but will return to the practice of law in Bellingham.
SEATTLE, Feb. 21.—Arthur Denny, collector of Internal Revenue of Alaska, is a son of the new director.
