Full Text

It has been suggested whether it would not be for the benefit of the morals of the younger portion of the community, if, on the recurrence of another one of those peculiar legal investigations, of which a second instance has occurred among us within a few days past, the case were attended to with "closed doors."

The minute and disgusting developments of vice which are there made, certainly cannot foster any of the virtuous principles of the heart; and the eagerness with which many youth, who are probably as yet strangers in the paths of licentiousness, resort to these trials, ought at least to be regarded with alarm. The consequences of "vice seen too often with familiar face," need not be enlarged upon. The guardians of public morals sometimes "strain at gnats and swallow camels."
