We hear from Great Barrington, that on Tuesday last, the riotous Regulators of Government, of that county, assembled there to prevent the sitting of the Supreme Court, which by law should have been holden there that day. The judges did not come, upon the presumption that the legislature would comply with their request made a few days before, and adjourn the October session for Berkshire. Notwithstanding the general knowledge of this circumstance, the mob gentry thought proper to embody, to guard against any imposition those appearances might cover. In the course of the day they placed guards on the different roads leading to the Court-House, who fired (their pieces being loaded with musket ball) on several persons, on their refusing to give an account of themselves, to these self-created Lords of the state: and the lives of many were greatly endangered. They also pursued the Hon. Mr. Sedgwick, with an apparent intention of taking his life, as also a Mr. Kellogg, sheriff's deputy, and one other person, who had rendered themselves obnoxious to certain leaders of the mob; and several balls were fired through a room of the house where Mr. Kellogg's family were sitting. Some damage was done to the Court-House, but private property remained unhurt. On Wednesday they dispersed.
