By the sloop Julia, arrived yesterday in seven, and the ship Betsy in ten days from Charleston, we learn, that the House of Assembly met on the 23d ult. and elected the honorable John J. Pringle, Esquire, Speaker. That honorable house have authorised a serious enquiry to be made, whether, or not, any, and which of the articles of the treaty of peace with Britain have been broken by the states of America, in order to determine—whether Britain has a right to retain a post in the western territory! —Questions no less serious than important.
