Full Text

DEMOCRATICK CIVILITY.

We are informed by a gentleman of respectability, that Mr. Jackson, who is now on his return from Canada, while travelling through the State of Vermont, arrived at the close of the evening at a small village where there was but one publick house. This was previously occupied by a company of democrats, who on discovering it to be the British Minister, and to shew their hospitality and friendship, refused him even admittance, and reduced him to the alternative of either travelling on to the next town, a considerable distance, in a dark night, or sleeping in his own carriage in the street. The latter of which we are told he preferred.
