Verdict Of Murder And Suicide Returned After Tragedy Near Weslaco
WESLACO, Aug. 28—(Spl)—Apparently despondent over financial and family troubles, Eulalio Capetillo, 30, Saturday night shot and killed his 14-year-old wife, an expectant mother, and then committed suicide at his residence three miles west of Progreso.
Justice of the Peace R. E. Erwin, Weslaco, returned a verdict of murder and suicide, following an all night investigation.
Assistant Criminal District Attorney Jack Ross said Capetillo shot his wife, Luz Fonseca de Capetillo, through the chest twice, once from the back and once from the front, and then walked into another room and shot himself through the chest.
The bodies, Ross said, were discovered by relatives who rushed into the house after hearing the shots. Capetillo raised up and attempted to talk to the relatives but toppled over dead. Apparently both the husband and wife had staggered some distance after being shot.
Capetillo died while attempting to crawl over beside the body of his wife.
Ross stated that Capetillo had been despondent for several days over finances and family trouble.
