labor underground, as well as the
civilian population generally, was
yesterday called upon
by
Joseph
Catalanotti, vice-president
of the
Amalgamated Clothing
Workers of
America, to impede the Nazi and
Fascist war machine and give all-
out aid to Allied invading
forces
"who have arrived to liberate you
from the Axis yoke."

Catalanotti, who is an American
citizen of Sicilian extraction, hailed
the Allied landing as the first step
in the emancipation of the Sicilian
people
from
the
"20-year
night-
mare
of Fascism and domination
by
Mussolini's Nazi masters."

The appeal to the Sicilian labor
undergrounds was joined, Catala-
notti declared, with an expression
of joy on behalf of thousands of
clothing
workers of Sicilian
ex-
traction at the news of the Allied
invasion.

Many

sons

brothers in American Army ranks
who are participating in the land-
