COMIC OPERA MUSIC STIRS CONGREGATION

Chico, Cal., Nov. 21.-Whether "Every Little Movement" should be judged by its worldly associations or by its spiritual benefits, is agitating the pillars of the Chico Baptist church.

The question follows an incident of last Sunday evening, when the four-piece orchestra struck up the popular air as the plate was passed. Some of the initiated gasped for the moment, then passed under its spell. They, as well as the good people ignorant of its name, responded alike in making movements toward the purse. The "meaning all its own" was an unusually well-filled plate.

In view of the financial result, even the members who consider the comic opera an abomination are inclined to think no music can be morally bad, whatever the words.

The players, however, are somewhat agitated over possible charges of heresy.
