Mr. Foote moved to postpone the consideration of the resolution to the first Monday in December next. The motion was debated by Messrs. Foote, Turney, Berrien, Webster, and Douglas, and on motion of Mr. Webster the further consideration of the resolution was postponed till to-morrow.
A message was received from the President transmitting certain nominations, among which were Messrs. Evans, of Maine, Paine, of Carolina, and Smith, of Indiana, as commissioners on Mexican claims.
The senate then went into executive session and confirmed all the nominations of yesterday. Those made to-day were referred.
