We are proud to announce that Miss Marguerite E. Wright will reign as our teacher of the year for the term of 1961-62. Her status in all aspects of educational value has established her as being highly worthy of this honor.

Receiving her elementary training and guidance in our local public schools, she holds the B. S. and M. A. Degrees from Savannah State College and New York University, respectively.

Some of the outstanding places she has visited in the United States are Grand Canyon, Arizona; Denver, Colorado; San Francisco and Los Angeles, California. She also visited Hamilton, Bermuda.

She is respectfully affiliated with Mt. Zion Baptist Church and its Junior League Organization.

She is an ardent member of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, serving as corresponding secretary; actively engaged in the Department of Classroom Teachers Association; National Education Association; American Teachers Association; Y.M.C.A., Y.W.C.A.; State Executive Committee of the Department of Classroom Teachers; The Executive Committee of the Chatham County Teachers Association and Recording Secretary of the Regional Classroom Teachers Organization.

She has served as an ex-officer and past president of our local Classroom Teachers Association; former assistant secretary of the Chatham County Teachers Association; member of the Advisory Committee of the Inter-School Council and served as past representative on the Liaison Committee for Pearl Lee Smith School.

Miss Wright has been a reputable delegate to local, state, and National Conventions representing both Chatham County Teachers Association and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.

In addition to regular classroom work, she has been employed on the staff of Mt. Calvary Methodist Church Nursery and Day School of New York City consecutively for several summers.

Her latest achievement is that of being chosen second place winner of our County Teacher of the Year.
