APPLAUSE FOR VAUDEVILLE AT LIBERTY

Encored were the rule at the Ye Liberty theater last night when the house, after being dark for a week as far as vaudeville attractions went, reverted to its vaudeville policy.
Each and every act was so different from the rest and so good in its own firmament that it would be hard to pick out the winner.
Hamlin and Mack, singing and dancing, opened the bill with a vim that took the audience from the start.

Esmeralda, Xylophone players who scored heavily at the Liberty last night
They are clever dancers, melodious singers, hard workers, and good dressers, which make a very strong combination. Their portrayal last night of southern character songs and dances were rich in the extreme.
Their jokes and pratter got over in one, two, three order. They are a truly meritorious team and will go strong the rest of the engagement.
Xylophone players come and go but the reception given Esmeralda, the dark haired musician, at her initial appearance last night would lead one to believe that she will always keep on going. From classics to popular or rather from Schubert to Johnson she had the large audience a going with her exquisite playing. Encore after encore followed in rapid succession until she was almost exhausted.

Van Camp and his pig "Lizzie," the program read, but before the man with the Teutonic name got through with his show it was a case of Van Camp and his barn yard, as pigs, chickens, rabbits, canaries, etc., were extracted from space to the surprise and amusement of the audience. Van Camp is a pleasing prestidigitator who extracts a laugh from the audience every time he speaks. His side talk is a show in itself. His trained pig, "Lizzie," is a wonderfully well trained porker and has the audience laughing at her tricks and the way she stuck to the baby's milk bottle.
The pictures were all interesting and the program as a whole was without a flaw and the large audience and the liberal applause that emanated from the said audience was evidence enough that vaudeville is still the popular attraction here.
