By the ship John and Adam, Captain Knight, arrived at this port on Saturday last: and the Com. Rogers, arrived at New York, both from Liverpool—we have received London dates to Oct. 6. Their contents relate principally to the change of the British Ministry, and the duel between Mr. Canning and Lord Castlereagh.
There remained, says the Centinel, after the resignation of the Duke of Portland & others, much consequent bickering among the remaining Ministers in the distribution of the loaves and fishes. The Duke, Mr. Canning, and Lord Castlereagh, had resigned. Mr. Percival had been promoted to the Duke's situation; and no other appointments had been made at the last date; the duties of the resigned officers being discharged by the other Ministers. Attempts were said to be making, to form a broad-bottomed Administration, to which Lords Grenville and Gray had been invited to high seats. But the speculators in these London papers on this subject are so contradictory, that the truth could not be ascertained from them.
