Supposed Murder.—The Salem Register of yesterday says there is reason to believe that a murder was committed on Wednesday in Lynn, on the Turnpike Road. The following are some of the particulars in relation to this melancholy affair. "On Wednesday, about half past two o'clock, as one of the Salem Stages was passing over the Turnpike to Boston, a man was discovered sitting on a rock, near the wall, a few rods on this side the Floating Bridge, bleeding at the side of the head, and apparently insensible. The carriage was stopped, and the passengers examined the man, and found that he was very badly wounded, unable to speak, and as they supposed, in a dying condition. One of the passengers was left with him, while the remainder proceeded across the Bridge, to some persons who they saw on the hill, to procure assistance to remove him: They found a Mr. Wiggin, with a number of men and a cart, repairing the Turnpike—they informed them of the situation of the man, and requested them to go and bring him to the first house, that he might be taken care of. They accordingly went to the place where the man was left, and placed him on their cart to remove him; but he died while in the act of removing him, without having been able to speak a word, from the time he was first discovered. He had two severe wounds on the left temple, one of which was about an inch in length, and the other three-fourths of an inch, and the skull bone we learn was fractured. The deceased had been seen several times in Lynn, in company with another person, dressed in a dark jacket, rather small for him—and was last seen about 1 o'clock, very near the Floating Bridge, proceeding toward Salem."
—A jury of inquest was held on the body, and their verdict was, that the deceased came to his death by the violence of blows inflicted by some person or persons unknown.—Bos. Trap.
