YOUNG MAN PARDONED.

Special to Independent.

Little Rock, Nov. 2.-Because the evidence upon which he was convicted was almost wholly circumstantial, the governor has pardoned Ed Lowry, of Garland county, who had been sentenced to one year imprisonment on a charge of manufacturing liquor. No witnesses were produced to give direct testimony as to the commission of the offense. The governor considered that the explanations offered by the defendant and his witnesses were so reasonable and consistent with his innocence. Lowry is a young man with a wife and infant children. He had never before been charged with any offense, and his reputation for honesty and sobriety had heretofore been above reproach.
