SPECTATOR.
EDWARDSVILLE, JUNE 2, 1826.
Our readers will perceive that we have changed the day of publication from Saturday to Friday Morning. This has been done to accommodate the greatest number of our subscribers; particularly those who live east of this place. By this arrangement our subscribers in Greenville will receive the paper on the day that it is printed, and those at Vandalia the morning following. The citizens of Greene county, and the counties above, were desirous, before the alteration of the time of arrival of the eastern mail, that, instead of lying here more than a day, (from Friday morning till Saturday noon.) it should proceed directly on. By the present arrangement we receive the eastern mail on Monday morning: and the mail which passes through Shawneetown and Belleville, and which brings most of our eastern papers, on Wednesday evening. The southern mail arrives on Saturday, and proceeds directly on westwardly and northwardly, but has very little in it. Now it is evident that the people who live in the counties bordering on the Mississippi above this place, are not accommodated by the present arrangement; as the two principal mails lie here, one five and the other three days, before they proceed northwardly :-our paper, however, will be but one day old, when it starts in that direction. We anticipate a change, for the better accommodation of the northern counties.
