"Called Their Hand,"

Washington, D. C.--Lawyer James H. Hayes, of Richmond, Va., whose speech before the Afro-American Council in this city recently created a stir, received an offer (threat) from the Coliseum club (white) of New Orleans to repeat it before that organization, they agreeing to furnish transportation and give him $3,000.

Mr. Hayes promptly accepted the invitation and says he will repeat his speech verbatim, paying his own expenses. The club's windy "bluff" seems to have petered out, nothing more having been heard from them.
