Great Fire in Alexandria.—Loss $600,000.

We learn that a great fire occurred in Alexandria,
Parish of Rapides, on the night of the 18th instant.
Three squares in the principal business portion of
the town were consumed by the devouring element.
The only store that escaped was that of Hugh
Lynch & Co. Among the buildings destroyed was
that of the Canal Bank. Numbers of families
have been deprived of all their property by this
dreadful conflagration. The loss is estimated at six
hundred thousand dollars.
