LEWISTON, Idaho, April 13.—It was reported Thursday that the Indians had killed a white woman in a settlement beyond the Lapwai agency. Agent Monteath went there on Friday to learn the facts. Ft. Lapwai being abandoned, the citizens are practically helpless in case of an Indian attack.

WALLA WALLA, W. T., April 13.—Troops B and I Second Cavalry, stationed at Ft. Walla Walla, have been ordered to Ft. Lapwai forthwith. They left last evening in command of Major McGregor. Another Nez Perce Indian war is feared
