WESTERLY WIFE FORGIVING
Refused to Testify Against Brutal Husband—Sharpshooters Named for Coming Contests—North Stonington Burglar Arrested in Bridgeport—Stonington, Carolina and Wakefield Win in Saturday's Games.

In the Third district court Saturday morning John Ferrara of Pierce street was arraigned on the charge of an assault upon his wife, Friday night. Mrs. Ferrara was in court with her head bandaged. When the husband was put to plea, he stated that he was so drunk that he did not know whether or not he struck his wife and knocked her down. Mrs. Ferrara stated that she sustained the injury to her head by slipping and falling, and denied that her husband had struck her. There was no other evidence, and not enough to convict the accused.

Complaint was immediately issued, charging Ferrara with intoxication. To this charge he had already confessed and pleaded guilty. He was fined $2 and costs, a total of $6.80, which he paid.
