CANADIAN SOLDIER IN DEEP APPEAL FOR R C
Trooper Who Lost Limb In Battle, Says His Life Was Saved By the Red Cross

With all that remained of his left limb braced against the pulpit, in order to maintain equilibrium, Sergt A Menzies, Canadian soldier, held the close attention of a large audience at the Methodist church auditorium Saturday night with meaty detail of his war experiences.

Menzies talks in a low, conversational tone: In fact, the tone was too low for the big auditorium and there was much straining of ears.

The speaker covered the Aisne and Somme campaigns and gave a number of thrilling experiences in fighting the boche. He particularly stressed the work of the Red Cross on the front and the herculean work of the nurses.

The Red Cross is truly named. The greatest mother in the world,' said Menzies. 'I beseech you to give to it: the Red Cross needs and needs it every cent is properly accounted for. My life saved in the hospital by the Red Cross. In the present drive do not stint; give until the heart aches and then give more.
