A new three-year contract providing for wage increases and fringe benefits has been signed with Family Laundry & Dry Cleaning Company by The Laundry Workers International Union Local 140, AFL.
The contract, which is retroactive to June 15, grants a five cents per hour pay boost, higher holiday pay, increased minimum pay, shortening of apprentice period to 30 days, and a company-financed welfare program providing for hospitalization, medical, surgical and death benefits and sick leave.
Negotiations were concluded at an earlier date in Towel Supply and the Overall and Shop Towel Supply Companies.
By July 1, 1956, all members in this area will be covered by the Health and Welfare Plan. A number of changes in contract making for more up-to-date terms on seniority, recognition and many other items which will benefit the employees are contemplated.
