PORTAGE LA PRAIRIE, Man., Canada, Jan. 21—Believed to be the first Nisei press photographer in Canada is Yosh Tashiro of Winnipeg who is now associated with the Portage La Prairie Daily Graphic.
Tashiro first joined the Winnipeg Free Press staff last year and since then went to Portage La Prairie, 60 miles from the Manitoba capital where he is now the Canadian Press representative in the city and district. He is furnishing photographs for 19 weekly newspapers as well as Portage La Prairie's daily and weekly.
One of his most recent pictorial efforts has been a full front page coverage of Portage La Prairie's festive season in the Christmas edition of the Daily Graphic.
The Daily Graphic is Central Manitoba's only daily newspaper.
Tashiro was born in Mission, B.C., and relocated to Winnipeg.
