The same Day one William Gill was committed to Gaol by Justice Engier, of Southwark, for robbing a Countryman of 8s. 6d. and a Tobacco Box, at Chalk near Dartford in Kent. It seems the Thief inveigled himself into the Countryman's Company, as he was travelling to Town on Foot; and they agreeing to lie together, the Rogue took the Opportunity, while his Bedfellow was asleep, to rob him, and push off in the Morning. The next Day, the Countryman coming out of the George-Inn in the Borough, luckily saw the Fellow passing by, and seized him with his Tobacco Box upon him, 'til a Constable came and secured him.
