BASLE, Aug. 18.

The French Representatives, Merlin de Thionville, Rewbell, and Ribaudi, arrived here yesterday, it is believed to bring a peace with the Empire to a nearer decision. It is said, that they will return to day, with a view of giving the Minister of State, Baron de Hardenburgh, certain definitive explanations.

As for the rest, we continue to be assured that the Articles of Peace between such of the States of the Empire, as have sent deputies here, and France, are actually signed: but that with regard to other States of the Empire, such difficulties have arisen, as will put insurmountable obstacles in the way of peace being concluded with France.

A stop has of late been put to recruiting in the Condéan corps.
