Messrs. "CORNELL & Co." send us an advertisement, equal in matter to one column of the Times, but which, if set in the way they propose, would be charged 50 per cent. penalty on the regular rates. They ask that we give it a place, two months, for eight dollars—No, sir! First, we won't, knowingly, aid in furthering any such swindle as yours, even if it paid us well; and, secondly, we understand our business better than to insert your advertisements for one-tenth of what our own neighbors are required to pay. Doubtless, however, "Cornell & Co." will find printers who are green enough, and sufficiently dishonest withal, to catch at their bait.—We shall see—Portsmouth Times.
