Full Text

Cumming and M'Duffie.—We suppose that the statement that a second challenge has passed between these gentlemen, was premature, as the contest is still kept up in the Augusta newspapers. Col. C. has published a reply to the statements of Mr. M'Duffie and his friends, in which he endeavors to invalidate their testimony, and reasserts the correctness of his former publication. But we think he has failed. In the pistol combat, M'Duffie had the worst of it, but in the paper one, he has decidedly the better. From appearances, we doubt whether there will be more blood shed. Ink shed is comparatively harmless.
