Salt Lake, July 21—Former United States Senator W. A. Clark of Montana left Salt Lake early this morning for the east after a day in Utah inspecting his mining property. The senator got in from Butte in his private car early yesterday forenoon, and was immediately taken to St. Johns, Tooele county. Thence he went to Ophir to inspect his extensive holdings.
The senator went over his mines personally, and was not at all fatigued last night despite his hard day's work. On returning to Salt Lake late last night Senator Clark expressed himself as greatly pleased with the outlook. He did not wish to detail the work being done on his Ophir properties, and contented himself with expressing his confidence in the continued development of the great mineral resources of the state. Senator Clark left for the east at 12:30 o'clock this morning over the Denver and Rio Grande.
