LONDON.

Extract of a letter from Paris, May 24.

An apprentice to a publick cook, in a street called Croix des petit-champs, in this city, being supposed to be dead, preparations were made for his interment, and just as the coffin was lowering into the grave, a noise was heard to proceed from the inside of it, upon which the lid was instantly broke open, when the unfortunate youth, imagining he had just awoke from a frightful dream, exclaimed, "My God! do I still dream!" Upon awaking from the trance, the shock the young man received, upon finding he had so narrowly escaped being buried alive, had so powerful an effect upon his spirits, that it is feared he cannot recover.
