FOR SUPERIOR CT.
Three local young men are being held at Windham County jail under bonds of $1,000 each, pending their appearance before the next session of Superior Court.
Francis Nichols, 23, of 25 Bolles street, Joseph R. Petrin, 18, of 9½ South Meadow street and Romeo Chapdelaine, 16, of 72 Vandale street pleaded guilty to charges of taking a car without permission of the owner, at a special session of city court Tuesday. Probable cause was found by Judge William P. Barber and the trio ordered held for Superior court hearing.
Acting on a "tip" both Officers Lawrence Hanley and Joseph Valade arrested the trio who, police said, took a truck from South Main street on November 26th and used the vehicle that night for trips to East Putnam and through the Woodstock area. The truck is the property of the Weiss Market on Providence street and was parked in front of the residence of Louis Weiss, South Main street. Police also reported the truck was returned to the South Main street site the same night with no apparent damage inflicted.
