Full Text

A Dead Failure.

A walking match and a masquerade ball were given Monday night at the Exposition building. Professor King and a few of his friends were managers. About the time the spectators had all gathered, the authorities swooped down upon Professor King and emptied his cash-box by requiring him to fork over $25 for a ball license. The Professor didn't know the law on the subject, but he settled. The managers lost fifty dollars on their venture, but didn't lose their temper. In fact, they all grew quite hilarious over the flattest failure of the season. The public wouldn't allow themselves to be taken in so soon after the other one.
