About two weeks since, seventy or eighty roguish boys assembled at Perry's Mills, in Champlain, near that part of the United States conteminous to her Majesty's Province of Lower Canada, and in derision of the military parade exhibited in Odeltown, had a mock training, with old horse, wooden swords, tin horns, a wooden cannon mounted on a wooden sled, &c. &c. In this military array they marched within half a mile of the line under the accompaniment of the aforesaid instruments of music, loaded their cannon, and left it fired with a slow match.—The party having retreated, the log cannon exploded with terrific effect upon her Majesty's loyal subjects of Odeltown. The valiant men there assembled the force at Isle aux Noix, and immediately marched to Odeltown, and all the surrounding country was put in military array to repel the expected invasion. Despatches were immediately forwarded to Sir John Colborne, informing him of the consternation into which her Majesty's devoted subjects were thrown by this alarming demonstration of hostilities from the Yorkers. Sir John, we understand, immediately on the reception of this information, despatched a special messenger to Gov. Marcy, informing him that the Patriots were assembled in large forces at the aforenamed Perry's Mills, and were drilling preparatory to an invasion of her Majesty's dominions.
