Lancaster, Sept. 20. 1799.
WE have been informed, that the Aurora contains, in the shape of a letter from Lancaster, that the Friends of Mr. Ross are all chop-fallen, on account of a meeting of M'Kean's Friends in this borough; and that M Kean will have a majority in this county. The design of this falsehood is obviously to keep up the spirits of their party ; and to depress others who may not know the truth. That meeting was, however, not half as large as is stated ; and consisted, chiefly, of characters, who have no influence beyond their own vote ; a great part of it was collected among the poorer class of people, in the outskirts of this town. Be assured, that the federal pulse beats high here, and that, without any question, the majority for Mr. Ross will be decisive, and very large.
