"But they that depend upon the Lord shall renew their strength: they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." Isaiah 40:31, was the text of Rev. W. Frederic Fisher's message, continuing his evangelistic service for the 5th week. Spiritually inspiring music was rendered by the Gospel Party. Rev. B. U. Taylor, former pastor of Quinn Chapel, Chicago, also presiding Elder of the Chicago District at one time but now superannuated, worshipped at the morning service, gave a short message complimenting St. James for splendid work. Other visitors worshipping at the morning service were: Mrs. Wm. Perkins and Mrs. Rachel G. Woods, of Omaha, mother and sister of Mr. Prince Henderson; Mrs. Ethel E. Brigham of Kansas City; Mrs. Roy Winburn of Great Falls, Mont., Mrs. Sadie Bogan of St. Paul; Miss Edith Massie of Mt. Olivet Baptist; Mrs. John Stanley and Mrs. Vashti Milligan of Pilgrim Baptist; Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel Watson, Zion Baptist, Minneapolis; Mrs. Floyd Maves, St. Peters A. M. E., Minneapolis, and Mrs. Effie Posey of St. Peters A.M.E., Minneapolis.
Visitors were welcomed by Mr. L. A. Scipio.
A group of nineteen young people met at 6 p.m. in a supper meeting. Organization was completed. Bruce Williams was elected president of the group. Supper was prepared by Mr. Stewart Kincaid and served by Mrs. Lillian Balenger and Bertha L. King. Bradford Benner is doing a very fine job with the Youth Choir which he expects to present in the very near future. The Children's Choir, rehearses each Thursday at 4 p.m. They are doing some very fine work and would like to have more members from the age of 8 to 14.
The date of the Church Conference and Pot Luck Supper has been changed, because of Halloween, from Monday, Oct. 31, to Monday, Nov. 7.
St. James, St. Paul, first Quarterly Communion service will be held Sunday, Nov. 20, with Rev. James C. Dixon, the newly appointed presiding Elder.
All members of St. James and the public is invited to attend the Homecoming and reception in honor of Rev. and Mrs. Benjamin Moore, who were returned to the pastorate of St. James for the tenth consecutive year, Saturday at 8 o'clock in the evening.
The every-member canvas committee is meeting weekly laying the ground work for their visitation campaign that will start very soon after the Institute on Church Finance which will be conducted by the St. Paul Council of Churches at St. James on Friday at 6 p. m.
St. James welcomes visitors and extends an invitation to those without a church home to become members of our Christian family.
