Monday last arrived here the Brig Beaver, William Davis from Bristol: He sailed from that Port on the 5th of May last, in Company with Captain Kennedy in a Snow for this place, who also arrived here on Friday; there were likewise several Vessels belonging to New York, Philadelphia, and other Places, making in the whole about 20 Sail, all under Convoy of his Majesty's Ship Looe, of 40 Guns:

Seven Days after they came out a Spanish Privateer appeared in Sight, upon which the Looe Man of War gave her Chase and took her; she was a Ship mounting 24 Guns, and 150 Men, belonging to Bayonne; the Privateer threw over a Number of her Guns. .... The Looe kept Company with the Vessels under Convoy, ten Days after, and then returned to Bristol with her Prize. ..... The Snow Betsey and Ruth, Captain Freeman, from this Port arrived at Bristol a Day or two before Captain Davis sailed......
