LAWYERS ARGUE OVER EVIDENCE IN TRIAL HERE

That the asserted confession of Manuel Avalos is not proper evidence of a conspiracy between himself and Rene Rambout to murder Rambout's Mexican wife, unless sufficient substantiating evidence is introduced, was the argument of Defense Counsel Edgar Hervey and his associates, this morning in arguing for an instructed verdict freeing Rambout and Avalos.

Superior Judge R. D. McPherrin spent the morning listening to arguments, with District Attorney Elmer W. Heald and R. I. French, his deputy, opposing the request of defense counsel. Following the court's ruling this afternoon, the case may be given to the jury, it was believed.

Defense counsel argues that Manuel Avalos's confession is insufficient evidence without substantiation for the conspiracy to murder Rene Rambout's wife, seeking an instructed verdict to free both defendants. Prosecutors oppose, and the judge will rule, potentially sending the case to the jury.
