Tallahassee, Aug. 2.-"Better Roads," a national magazine published in Chicago, makes the following comment on state-wide highway planning surveys:

"Not the least of the benefits issuing from the State-wide Highway Planning Surveys is the comprehensive highway atlas that is being assembled county by county. Planning survey maps of various kinds being brought to completion show every mile of public road and degree of improvement of roads. The railroads and the waterways and the airports are there, relating the highway network to the other lines of transportation. The maps show where people live, where industries are situated and where business is carried on. They show the rural schools and the community meeting houses, the school-bus routes and the routes of the rural mail-carriers. For the first time, in many counties there will be adequate highway maps; and wherever the work is being done, the roads will be related, on a map, to the people and the activities of the people they serve. In addition to showing the physical aspects of the highway system and furnishing a base for the physical highway planning of the future, the maps may be expected to have many other uses, for public agencies and private business. A series of recreational maps is a single example. The maps are a return on the planning investment of immediate useful application."
