The state planning council added two new committees to its lengthy list this week with appointment of Columbia Gorge and federal lands transfer committees.

The first group will study industrial development, power transmission and industrial and home sites in connection with Bonneville dam.

The second committee will study plans for solving problems arising out of conflicting federal and state use of grazing areas, national forests, biological reserves and military bombing areas. The squabble over whether the department of interior or agriculture should have jurisdiction over Mt. Olympus national monument may be one problem discussed.

Members of the latter committee are Dr. N. I. Showalter, state school superintendent, chairman; Major O. A. Tomlinson, national park service; John C. Kuhns, forest service; Leo K. Couch, biological survey; Leslie Sorensen, FERA; Dean Henry Lauer, University of Washington; Dean E. C. Johnson, Washington State college; Land Commissioner A. C. Martin; Fisheries Director B. M. Brennan; Game Director Ray F. James; Secretary of State E. N. Hutchinson; Dean Hugo Winkenwerder, state forest board; Highway Director Lacey V. Murrow; E. F. Drumheller, Walla Walla, wool growers' association; John Helirey, Curlew, state cattlemen's association.

Others on the committee will be from various city and county planning commissions along the gorge. Skamania county will be represented by William Price of North Bonneville and Klickitat county by S.
