WARREN-FACULTY-Frank Evans has joined the faculty as instructor of biology and physical education. He is a recent graduate of the AM&N college, Pine Bluff.
ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT-The athletic department closed the contest for the Basketball Queen Friday afternoon. The Queen, Miss Rosie Jean McHenry, is a member of the sophomore class with Mrs. R. G. McKay as its sponsor. The classes reported as follows: Sophomore class, $105; junior class, Mrs. H. Louise Bullock, sponsor, $96; eighth grade, Mrs. M. G. Moore, sponsor, $39; seventh grade, Miss M. Tatum, sponsor, $37; ninth grade, T. C. Brunson, sponsor, $25; senior class, Miss A. L. Cowans, sponsor, $20. Total $322. The Queen was crowned Friday night in impressive ceremonies held in the school library. She was crowned by the captain of the basketball team, Donald Louis York. The Queen wore a lovely pink net short formal and carried a huge bouquet of yellow mums tied with gold and blue ribbon, the school colors. Each of her attendants were beautifully attired in formals and wore corsage of cornations tied with gold and blue ribbon. WITH THE CLASSES-The senior class gave a George Washington banquet Monday night, in the home economics department. Quite a few persons were on hand to partake of the tasty menu. Chapel was presented by the junior class during the week which had as its theme "Brotherhood." A talk was given in chapel on "Brotherhood" by the Rev. L. R. Williams, pastor of the St. James AME church. A highlight of the program was a number by the girls glee club of the junior class. Next week, the sophomore class will have charge of chapel program.

SPORTS-Basketball season came to a close February 25 with the Boys district tournament, which was held in Dermott. The Wildcats have enjoyed a very good season this year. Graduation will take the first team which includes: Robert Strickland, high pointer and dribbling ace. Others are Graham Ross, Donald York, Hugh Washington, Henry Russell, Harold McFadden, Wallace Washington, William Washington, Robert Allison and Gene R. Campbell The Wildcats won the County invitational tournament held at Hermitage high school February 13.
The Girls tournament of district I is being held this week.
